The Colegio Lincoln Alumni Guestbook

Guest's Comments are sorted in descending order, newest to oldest.

Hi Everyone.  It’s sad that these days, there is so much inappropriate material on the internet.  Throughout 2006, this Guestbook has been targeted by automated programs that filled its pages with offensive material.  I am sorry it took a while for me to become aware of this fact.  I have now deleted all those postings.  I also have disabled “write ability” to the guestbook and just retained comments currently posted.  If I can find a policing program, I will re-enable the Guestbook.

It is my sad duty to let some of the older alumni know that I received notification of the death of Lorie Lindahl (class of '58') Lorie died of pneumonia December 8. The pheumonia was a complication of a bone marrow disease and two earlier bouts with cancer that Lorie suffered some years ago. I reconnected with Lorie earlier this year through this website and her passing saddens me.

Rich <rmj91@yahoo.com> -- 11/14/05 -- 09:10:30

I attended LHS in the early 70's (2nd & 3rd grade). Does anyone remember the "Orange Power" rallies and what they were about?

Philip A. Gammans <pagammans@chicchoc.com.ni> -- 11/07/05 -- 15:01:21

Congratulations for this wonderful web site that brings back so many nice memories of those days.

Donel Williams (formerly Donel Brown) <dwilliams@findleydavies.com> -- 11/03/05 -- 10:14:50

Saludos at todos! I came across this website today and needless to say, I am basking in all the WONDERFUL memories of my years at LHS :-) First and foremost, thanks to Steve for this great opportunity! My name is Donel Williams (formerly Donel Brown) and I attended Lincoln School from 1971 - 1976. I can still remember all the great sports festivals and talent shows . . . and who can forget the Student Council elections?? Do the LEO and P.I.E. parties sound familiar to anyone? With Halloween just a few days ago, I remember the year my brother's (Stuart Brown) class was in charge of the Halloween Party at the Cariari Club. Somehow, someway, Stuart and his friends (I believe Danny Katcher and David LeBlanc had something to do with this) managed to convince Dr. Kingsbury, our Headmaster, to let them carry him onto the dance floor in a coffin! What a trooper! Dr. Kingsbury was so totally cool! Anyways, I could go on and on about all the great times I had. I currently live outside Charlotte, North Carolina, USA with my husband of (3) weeks, (2) teenage sons, and (1) step-daughter. When I hear someone mention "Costa Rica", I can't help but think of the many friends I left behind and how I'd love to catch up with them . . . so don't be shy and please e:mail me at dwilliams@findleydavies.com. Take care and I hope to hear from you soon :-) Regards, Donel

Leslie Ann Fox <lfox@unm.edu> -- 07/03/05 -- 04:42:32

I attended Lincoln School from 1968-1971 (Class of '80)before my parents moved back to the States. I now live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A. and I'm working on a novel based on my experiences in Central America. I've never quite felt at home here in the States, Costa Rica had an unforgettable impact on my life and will always feel like home. I'm hoping to visit soon. I would love to get in touch with Linda Joanna Dickey, my best friend and partner in crime in second and third grade.

Victor Lloyd <vlloyd5801@aol.com> -- 07/01/05 -- 11:41:44

I started at Lincoln in 1951 when I was in the fourth grade and the school was still in two small buildings in San José. As I recall, the campus was moved to Moravia in 1953 and I graduated from there in 1960. I look back on those years with great warmth. My wife and I are going to Costa Rica for a loose reunión de ex-alumnos this August and we are looking forward to the trip. Out of curiosity, I went poking around the internet today and learned that the school will be moving to Heredia. I currently live in Boston, Massachusetts and would love to hear from other alumni.

Teri Neyhouse <tneyhouse@yahoo.com> -- 06/15/05 -- 14:58:41

Hi! I attended Lincoln in 1986 and 1987 (when I was 15 and 16--10th and 11th grades). My sister (Lisa) and my brother (James) also attended and both of my parents were teachers. It was a very memorable experience. I currently live in the mountains of North Carolina and work as a Community Mediator, teach part-time at Appalachian State University, and serve as a manager and advocate at a Legal Aid Clinic that offers free civil legal services to individuals living in poverty.

Stephen Vermillion <svermillion@objectvideo.com> -- 04/14/05 -- 09:47:18

Just discovered thhis site -- the world is smaller every day. I attended Lincoln elementary school with my brothers Kevin and Ryan from 1969-1972. Costa Rica was the first place we ever visited/lived outside the United States and it was an exceptional experience that impacted my life until today. I did my graduate studies in Latin American political affairs, travel to the region occasionally and honeymooned in Costa Rica in 1994. After 17 years working for the U.S. House of Representatives, including 10 years as Chief of Staff to a Hispanic, Republican Member of Congress, I recently departed for the private sector. I am now working in the homeland security industry for a software company. We have had some recent preliminary discussions about putting a call center in Costa Rica. I also maintain a local friendship with Roger Pardo-Maurer, a Costa Rican-American and Lincoln alum.

Nathan Trevor Brierly <tbrierly@ari.net> -- 03/18/05 -- 11:14:27

Hello all, I attended Lincoln School as a young child, probably between 1974 and 1977. While I was there I had a friend named Patricia. I've always wondered what happened to her, and I'd love to get in touch with her. Unfortunately I don't remember her last name. Here are all the facts I remember about her: She had a brother named Tony who liked surfing. Her parents were killed in an auto accident and she was being raised by her grandmother. She was very very shy. She moved back to the US while I was still in CR, to San Jose, California. If anyone has any idea who I might be talking about, please let me know! This is long shot, but I thought I would see what happens. Thank you NTB

ernst coumou <epcoumou@comcast.net> -- 01/26/03 -- 00:42:14

I attended Lincoln in Limon in 1973 (3rd grade)and Lincoln school from 1975 to 1979 (fifth through first half of 9th)where i learned the majority of my english before i ended up moving to the US (I only spoke dutch, and a bit of broken english at that time). I would have graduated from Lincoln in 1982, and my brother, Frank Coumou, in 1983. I still visit CR often and drive by the school and remember those times of not only my childhood, but of the wonderful people of CR. My last great memory was a classmates wedding in 1996, when i caught up with so many former classmates of my graduating year.

Hello, it feels weird to consider myself as an alumni... its very nice that you took the time to make this website. Kudos for you! I'm Costa Rican but go to college in New Orleans, I attend Tulane University. I don't mean to be annoying but it is Colegio not Colegio. ok? I'm only a sophomore here but are 20 yrs old and probably the oldest sophomore in the history of college students. I'm planning on majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology, which probably makes me a lab geek! ja! Its nice to know that non Costa Rican alumni appreciate Lincoln School, it would be nice to hear stories coming from you. Well, congrats on the site. Thanks!

Lorie Lindahl <llindahl22@aol.com> -- 02/19/00 -- 09:04:17

Hi My name is Lorie and I am a 1958 Lincoln grad spending two wonderful years there. My sister Linda also attended and was 5 years behind. It was a great time, tourists had yet to discover that beautiful country. I was back once, long ago, and my mother still lives in Panama. I was very active in sports both at school, thr Intercolegiate Olympics, and basketball with Orion and Versailles. It may surprise former teachers that I became a high school teacher here in California and will retire in June after 36 years. I actually ran in to my old history teacher Wells Cornelius on a project last year and was amazed he remembered me after 40 years. I would love to hear from any folks from "the old days" as a special place in my heart has always been reserved for Lincoln School.

Peggy Sapphire <PSapphire@worldnet.att.net> -- 06/23/99 -- 19:20:26

Hello Steve Caisse: I'm an alumna of Lincoln, class of '55! Yes...'55. My family moved to San Jose in July '55 and I entered as a Senior that summer, and the memories are with me today, strong and wonderful.  Lincoln was like a family. We were 21 in my Senior class (158 in the whole school then).  The principal then, Mr. Warren D. Jagush, welcomed me so warmly. I have had the uncanny experience of having moved to a town in CT, and found that one of the teachers here is the godson of Mr. Jagush, who I now know died some years ago. I've never been back, though I still have family there, nor have I ever encountered anyone from my days there. I wonder: is there any alumni group from those days still in touch? My yearbook is sitting in front of me here as I write. I'm a writer now, and working on a book for young teens, based on my letters during those days back to my best friend in NY. So, anything you can advise me about, direct me to, etc.etc. would be much appreciated. Con much gusto, Peggy Sapphire
